Recruiting
I'm a new GW player by the name of Daibo Kakashi. I'm an Elementalist/Mesmer, and I only have one character. I've tried being in parties with other members, but they seem to leave right away. I think they get frustrated with my constant wandering (I don't know my way around that well!)
I was just wondering where I can go to get people to be in my party and NOT leave for my lack of knowledge of GW. Again, I am a new player... |

Not much you can do, in my opinion. People who do that are stuck-up morons who probably know about as much as you, but would rather hide it.
While it may defeat the object of the game being online, Henchmen are your other option. They don't leave and they don't stand there screaming "omg" 50 times when they should be doing their job. |

I had henchmen, but I logged out, so now they're gone. Oh! Guilds! Are there any newbie guilds? Or should I start one...

I'm doing Prophecies, and I don't really know how far I am... I'm level 2, and I just delivered some items to Ellie Rigby, and now I'm going back to Ambassador Zain.

OK, so you're at the point where henchmen are available.
Henchmen are computer-controlled characters available from every town and outpost. They are available to everyone, even when someone else has taken them. Also, a common mistake for new players (even I did that) is to leave the starting area - Pre-Searing Ascalon - at such a low level. This doesn't make the morons I mentioned any less moronic though. [EDIT] fallot, he's a new player and probably soesn't understand the (less than perfect) henchmen system yet. Last edited by The Pointless; Aug 13, 2006 at 02:48 PM // 14:48.. |

The story starts you in the Kindom of Ascalon before an event called The Searing takes place. Many refer to this starter, or "noob" area (stupid term, I know) as Pre-Searing Ascalon, or Pre. You leave when Sir Tydus gives a mission and warns you that you won't return for some time. This mission leads you to your first Player vs Player fight and a mission with Prince Rurik afterward. Finish this mission and you will wind up 2 years after that event.

Ideally, it's best to work to Level 8 before leaving. There are enough quests to get you to that level easily, but they can be a pain to find, which is why I understand your mistake.

No one wants to party with a level 2 in post searing. When you start your character you are in pre-sear Ascalon. There are many quests to do and they will take you to different towns and settlements. You also get to try out different second profession skills before committing to a second profession. I like to try them all and do the quest the trainer gives you to get more experience. You also don't want to go to post sear without a fair bit of gold and salvage for the armor andf runes and a decent weapon that you will need when you go through academy. Take your time...kill a lot in presear. Explore everywhere...the catecombs, the mountains and before you leave try across the wall. It is a beautiful area and you get lots of drops to salvage and sell to build up your inventory. When you are about level 8 and have seen and done it all, go through academy and get your armor and then you will be an asset to any team. Also you are a spoellcaster so you work best from the rear of the party. Monks will have their hands full healing the warriors who should be the ones up front and taking aggro. Dashing ahead gets you killed and the monk can't help you if you do not stay in healing range. Slow down...explore, enjoy.

Bad idea. Just do all available quests and you'll do fine. The Ascalon Arena's upper limit is lvl10 so a lvl2 against a bunch of lvl 8s would knock you out of the fight in seconds.

I would suggest and this is up to is that you redo your Ele up agian go back to pre and do what Kaiwyn said.I suggest this because you will have to buy skills and you only have have 2 skill points. You need a skill point to buy a skill and most importantly did you get your ressurection signet when you are in group you might have to res someone it can be bought but you get free in pre.The more skill points in post the better it is and you can buy meteor and meteor showers in post as everyone wants a Nuker.
I would suggest looking at some builds in Elementalist forum. |
